A 14 year old user made this stamp [link] , entitled "God Hates Me," in which they vented some of their greif at the troubles they've gone through with losses in their family.

Enter :iconjms296:, douche bag extraordinaire, to bombard this poor kid with a succession of disparaging, condescending, and very mean comments, telling her to "get over it," and "grow up," and that everything is part of uncle Jesus' super secret perfect plan, and that to even question that is evil.

No, you cunt, you're the one who's evil, berating a kid who has lost loved ones by shoving your delusions and fantasies down their throat. I'd say shame on you if I thought for a second that your diseased mind was capable of feeling it.

Later on, when others had joined the conversation, :iconjms296: offers up the anecdote featured above as proof that god exists, alongside the usual hellfire threats that Christians can't seem to go two seconds in a god debate without resorting to.

Now although that anecdote does strongly resemble the kind of made up shit you see in chain e-mails, I will give her the benefit of the doubt and accept that it is true. So what? This is not proof of anything except your desperation to jump down the rabbit hole of fantasy to avoid facing the unsettling realities of life. I am sorry for your loss. I am sorry for everyone's losses, but I will ridicule anyone who attempts to brow-beat the virus of faith into a vulnerable child.

My dad died of terminal cancer one cold morning late November, but since he wasn't a believer I guess the clouds aren't parting for his floating soul to rise up into happy fluffy cloud lala land. Fuck that fairy tale magical bullshit.

Of course if you have a differing view on life and existence, it can be infuriating to deal with others' nonsensical beliefs. Had to deal with that in the fallout of my father's death. It's amazing how many people come out of the woodwork to use it as an opportunity to 'convert' grieving people into the fold. It was sickening to see. Luckily we weren't falling for that shit.

I hate it when christians like this just re-inforce the stereotype that we all hate gays and people who don't follow our religion. Thanks to people like this, even if you have complete respect for everyone's views, tell the internet you're christian and BOOM, troll hate.

Often times when I hear the specific reason someone believes in god, I find myself thinking, if those are your standards of evidence, what couldn't you believe?! Any idea imaginable could pop into your head, and you can believe it!

Typically, I try and have a soft spot for people who choose the "my family/friend is in heaven not a rotting corpse" approach to religion and reasons to believe but you're right, this is hate and ugliness through and through. it's also extreme self centeredness, making the entire conversation revolve around herself. Not to follow suit myself but I made a stamp a while back that is so fitting: they say heaven is the hardest thing to let go of, I prefer to think about the BILLIONS not in hell...

Awh fuck, you told me I'm going to hell because I don't believe. That really affects me deeply, because as an atheist, I definitely believe in the existence of heaven and hell. Lol people need to understand that telling me I'm "going to hell" is about as real of a threat as telling me I'm going to narnia.

I read through several pages of jms296's comments. I do feel pity for him/her, despite those words there is an incredible amount of anger and suffering.

It reminds me of the concept of the 3 poisons in Buddhist teachings: ignorance from which flows attachment and aversion. This person refuses to even consider the world from another point of view and so clutches onto these beliefs and becomes overly aggressive and hateful to others. I do not think he/she has recovered from the death of the mother and is only ignoring the deeper hurt by running towards a delusion.

Ok, peaceful Buddhist teaching aside; talk about a being a monumental dick and swinging it like a bludgeon.

Let me give you a direct quote, to me, from this little gal:

"lol You just said you were an atheist and now you're saying EVERYONE needs something to believe in. You're no atheist, otherwise YOU and every other atheist would need something to believe in. :/"

Calling me wrong based on my beliefs, minus the stupid anecdote and swearing, is still being hypocritical.

According to her, someone must have went and changed the definition of atheism on me, because last time I checked, it meant not believing in god, not having no beliefs at all.

I'm agnostic myself; don't wanna make any arrogant "this is what REALLY exists and that's ALL that exists" statements I guess. But when people do THIS, it makes me sigh. People can make their own decisions about what they want to believe in. It doesn't matter if you're atheist and berate people for believing in something or if you're a christian who berates people for not specifically believing in what you believe. Either way, you're forcing someone to accept what you say is true and saying they're an idiot for NOT accepting it.
Learn acceptance, people.

Your agnostic faith is making an arrogant statement, though.

You're saying 'I know for certain that it's impossible to know if a god exists or not'

You really think you have absolute knowledge that nobody knows?
How do you get off claiming to know what I do or don't have proof for? Hmm?

If you were really open minded, you should be agnostic to agnosticism as well.

What if I have proof, hmm? Do you deny the possibility? If you do, you have a stronger faith than most Christians, and are being just as arrogant.

Consider the possibility that, somewhere out there, somebody does have proof that a god doesn't exist- but you just haven't seen it yet.

Then you will make real intellectual progress.

I'm trying not to say anything for certain, and I apologize if I offended you.
I do not "get off" by claiming to know anything, and I personally take offense at that. Having absolute knowledge of anything is something I would personally never claim, although I wouldn't expect you to know that from one simple post. Humans aren't omniscient.
I have considered the possibility of proof for both sides of religion, and I prefer to wait until I see it with my own eyes. It's simply the way I am. I can't be content with anything less than irrefutable proof of one side or the other. I really do wish I could take a leap of faith and believe in something bigger than myself, but it just isn't the way I think.
Good night.

First off, I apologize if I misread your post and over-reacted.

There are some other people in this thread who are what are called "militant agnostics"- I may have unfairly assumed that you were militant as well, but that seems not to be the case.

The militant agnostics are the ones who insist that nobody knows, and that their position is the only honest position- they "get off" on it. In practice, they're taking an enormous leap of faith in asserting that nobody can know- because they certainly can't know that. A dogma of un-know-ability. They grate me far worse than theists, because they put on airs of fair-mindedness and intellectual honesty while practicing the exact opposite.

I'm glad to see that you aren't one.

"I can't be content with anything less than irrefutable proof of one side or the other."

Happy to help you out there. I don't have any faith either- I find faith itself to be counter-productive to real knowledge.

I have to see sound logical proof- both irrefutably true premises, and valid logic without contradiction- in order to believe something (or reject the possibility of something).

*sighs* well it really seems that some of "us" see such "anecdotes" as proof that god exists, while others might very well see it as disproof (why did she had to die anyway?). i will not comment on the question if god exists or not i left this discussion a long time ago and the truth is that you can't proof or disproof god either, but the thing i want to make clear is that not every living christian is like:"If you don't believe in god, you will go to hell!"
